Professorial Appointments Board

We have now established a Professorial Appointments Board to recruit the College’s first Professors of Teaching. The Board will play a central role in shaping the future of the teaching profession by ensuring that appointments are rigorous, transparent and rooted in professional values. The Board will:

define the selection criteria for the Professors of Teaching
oversee the process of recruiting the Professors of Teaching
make recommendations for appointments to the role of Professors of Teaching.

Terms of office will begin in September 2026.

The following individuals have been appointed to the inaugural Professorial Appointments Board:

The establishment of the Professorial Appointments Board marks an important step in the development of the Chartered College of Teaching and its commitment to recognising and advancing expertise within the teaching profession.

We are delighted to welcome such a distinguished group of education leaders, researchers and practitioners to this inaugural Board and look forward to sharing more about its work in the coming months.
