Who is it for? For practising classroom teachers who are currently working in a middle leadership role and wish to achieve Chartered Teacher Status while exploring their practice through the lens of middle leadership.
Chartered Status is a professional learning and accreditation pathway supporting career-long development. Our Chartered Teacher pathway with Middle Leadership specialism provides an opportunity to demonstrate how your classroom expertise and professional learning also contribute to your work as a middle leader. As you progress through the pathway, you will include at least one professional learning goal linked to your middle leadership responsibilities, and at least two assessment submissions that reflect your middle leadership context, and demonstrate your specialism within your final Chartered Status application. You will also receive complimentary access to our Rethinking Middle Leadership online short course to support your learning.
To be awarded Chartered Teacher Status, you will need to demonstrate that you meet each of the Chartered Teacher Professional Principles, as defined in the Chartered College of Teaching Professional Framework. You will do this by completing a series of certified CPD units, undertaking assessments within each unit to showcase your professional expertise across a range of areas. These units are accessed via an online platform, allowing you to work towards Chartered Teacher Status at a pace that best suits you. Typically it takes around 1-2 years to complete the pathway. Individuals who are awarded Chartered Status with Middle Leadership specialism are able to use the postnominals ‘CTeach’ in recognition of this significant achievement.
